Quick Takes, Sappy Edition

.) So I'm SUPER excited because in just a few short hours? All our teenagers will be with their respective parents, our babies will be with my Mama, and Joey and I will be driving a few hours away, just the two (and a half, I guess) of us for a date! To go out for a nice dinner and see one of our favorite comedians perform! BLISS!

.) It really does feel, lately, like we hardly ever get a chance to spend time together, and any time we can steal five minutes alone we have to talk about how much we miiiiiiiiiiiisssss each other. Between work and babies and teenagers and athletics and leading impromptu group therapy sessions that last until one o'clock in the morning (not an exaggeration! That's what we did last night!) those stolen five minutes seem few and far between.

.) And really, we kind of like spending time together. We're married to pretty awesome people, in our opinions.

.) Although, we were catching up on some episodes of Big Bang Theory the other night and we saw the one where Bernadette was really irritated with Howard. And Joey says, "Man, she's really cranky. I wonder if she's pregnant?" And then maybe I threw the remote at him, which maybe kind of proved his point.

.) But he brings me pots of daffodils and hyacinths when I'm having a rough day (and seriously? I LOVE that the boys get to see this Joey-style of husbanding modeled up close by their mentor-slash-coach. Their future wives are totally going to reap the benefits of it!) and kisses me during passing periods at school, and makes a point of telling me things like he was checking out my behind when I was buckling the girls into their car seats, or he kept thinking, while we painstakingly walked the boys through hashing out their differences, that his wife is the most amazing woman in the world.

.) And who else in the whole entire world would know that the two things I would most like tickets for are Gabriel Iglesias and Wicked? Because those were two of my Christmas presents from him, and I was all, OMG, YOU KNOW ME SO WELL!

.) Just a few more hours of mediating squabbles and making people do their chores (and these things apply equally to the teenagers and the toddlers, I'll have you know) and then we're out of here!
